Recently, the National Technical Committee for Steel Standardization approved four industry standards, including “Steel Wire Rods for Lifting Chains.” These new standards successfully fill a gap in China’s domestic market by establishing specific standards for raw materials used exclusively in the manufacture of lifting chains. The standards primarily specify the technical requirements for the production and acceptance of steel wire rods used to make lifting chains. Their fundamental aim is to ensure quality control from the upstream stage of the supply chain—right at the raw material level—thereby guaranteeing that the final product (lifting chains) possesses reliable safety performance and fostering healthy market development. For chain manufacturers, this means that the procurement and inspection of raw materials now have clear, unified technical guidelines, which will help stabilize and enhance the overall product quality of the industry. At the same time, these standards also set higher compatibility requirements for downstream manufacturers of complete machines such as electric hoists and manual chain hoists, prompting the entire industrial chain to upgrade toward greater safety and compliance.
